Every year as Halloween comes around, kids start talking about what they would like to dress up as that year. Many seem to have a fascination with scary kids Halloween costumes, and not all parents are thrilled with this.
Some parties for little kids and some schools even forbid kids to wear scary kids Halloween costumes. However, these costumes actually give kids a great chance to pretend, and might actually help them to get over some of their fears.
There are a number of different types of scary kids Halloween costumes. There are the old standbys that everyone has seen a million times. These include vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches, devils, Frankenstein and other horror movie type costumes. These days you can also find costumes from any number of different movies. You can find costumes for the bad guys from all sorts of scary movies as well as those that most grown ups are familiar with. A kid can dress up as Freddy or Jason or any number of other movie characters or bad guys. For some kids, something like a spider costume or other large bug can be scary.
Kids like to be able to run around and say “boo” and scare their friends. The good thing about Halloween is that most of the kids understand that the scary creatures are just other kids in scary kids Halloween costumes, and not monsters that are actually going to hurt them. It gives them a chance to get excited and get their blood flowing without any real danger. They might get a little adrenaline rush, but inside they know that these “monsters” really aren’t going to hurt them. Let’s face it, we all like to do things that are a little dangerous or a little scary from time to time, while keeping them within limits. That is why the rides at the amusement park are fun, and why people like to go through haunted houses.
Once kids choose what they would like to be, it is time to get the costume. Some people are very creative and can make costumes for their kids, others buy them at costume stores. There are also a lot of websites that offer Halloween costumes, sometimes at a bit of a discount. For the best deals, buy costumes the day after Halloween for future years (or for games of dress up and pretend play).
