Halloween Party for tweenagers?! :P?
I am having a costume party on Halloween night, and I am inviting exactly 50 people, boys and girls. They are all going into 6th grade, so its an age group of 11-13 year olds. We are going to have it at my aunts house, who lives out in the country with a VERY big yard, and she lives by the woods. (not in, but her house is surrounded by the woods from the sides and the back, not the front.) We are going to have an LCD projector and bedsheets as a screen, so that we can watch a PG-13 horror type movie outside, like in a drive-in. I don’t know what movie to get. (Maybe The Priest, or Insidious? Movie reviews if you have seen either of them.)
We are going to have a contest for Best Costume Overall, Creepiest Costume, Greatest Group Costumes, Best Identity Hiding Costume, and Most Creative Costume. What should I give out as prizes?
We decided on having 4 or 5 different snacks out, about a hundred of each. What snacks are quick and easy, but still filling and delicious? We are also going to have big bowls of punch out. Where can I find a recipe for that punch with dry ice so that it has a smokey fog kind of thing that goes around it? (links for snacks and punch. snacks do NOT have to be Halloween themed, as I find that they are all pretty much the same.)
Me and my friends are going to try and raise a bunch of money for decorations. We are going to go to Party City when we have a lot of money raised. We are going to get some pretty awesome decorations, but they will cost a lot. What can I do to raise money? (I get allowance and I can babysit for people. Maybe do odd-jobs around neighborhood?)
I have a few CD’s with Halloween music on them, but I want to have just regular music too. Any good dance songs and artists that have CD’s out right now, or have their songs on iTunes?
I am going to be a zombie, like from the seventies, which is when they say "Punk Died." so I am going to be a punk zombie, with "Punk Is Dead" written in bloody writing on the back of my shirt. Any other ideas for the rest of my costume?
We are going to play games in the dark, like a creepy version of Hide and Seek, the Seekers try to find and scare the Hiders before the Hiders see them and scare the Seekers, if that makes any sense. (it’s easier to explain while doing actions and actually being there to SAY it.)
We are going to try and get a DJ, but if we can’t, we are just going to get a boom-box and strobe lights and all that. I also will need to get a microphone for my karaoke system, so that I can talk and everyone will hear me (my friends can get REALLY loud!) and so that we can have singing and rapping free-style at my party too. (links on eBay or Amazon for microphones?)
And finally: After reading this, what do you think my party is going to be on a scale from 1-10?
Does it sound like a party you would want to go to? It will be from 7:00 p.m. till after midnight.
What time should I have people go home? (it really sucks, because school is the next day, but we will ALL be tired anyways, so who cares? Also, we will be wearing bits of our costumes to school the next day, and acting like our "characters" all day. THAT will be pretty funny!)
10 pts to best answer! (and sorry for making this so long!!!

How do I make a skeleton stand up?
I’m trying to get together ideas for Halloween decorations in the yard. I want a skeleton bride and groom, but all the ones I see to buy cost hundreds of dollars. How can I make a skeleton sturdy enough to be able to stand up in the yard? I thought of putting a pole in the yard and putting the skeleton on that, then dressing it, but how do I actually do that and make his head where it won’t flop over. Any other ideas?

Would these halloween decorations scare you even abit?
So im a halloween FREAK ! im all for making the house super scary every year. This year i had a great idea, A YARD CEMETERY. In my front yard, i want to put 6 scary tombstones with scary hands & head coming from the ground beside the tombstones. A mini fence, a sign that says ‘My street name Cemetery’. Scary props, skeletons & zombies hanging from trees. & fog running though it all. On my porch i wanted to do something like a slaughter house. Like huge knives hanging on the walls, brains, hands, body parts, feet, head, anything everywhere on my porch, all fake blood splattered on the floor. Then i have a huge spider web that has a huge purple & black spider on it in the corner of my porch, strobe lights & scary music playing lightly. Would this stuff freak you out, even a bit ? imagine your self as a kid. This is what decor im having in my yard for HALLOWEEN ! ![]()

What are some good SCARY Halloween yard decoration ideas?
So in celebration of my favorite holiday, I want to have a cool yard display.
For the past few years, the most decor we have had was a plastic pumpkin. But I managed to convince my dad to let me make it a whole lot spookier ![]()
So what are some cool spooky ideas? I want it to be SCARY, but not so scary that no kid would dare to approach it or anything, lol.
Thanks for your ideas!!!!!!!
Oh also, my yard is fairly large and it has a small tree. We have a big garage but it’s got a lot of junk and an old rusty car that doesn’t move lol, but I suppose we could just shield that off. Just thought you might wanna know ![]()
Oh, or we could use the rusty car , it is pretty scary LOL

Can I display a noose in my yard as a part of my halloween decorations?

It will add to my other halloween art: an electric chair and a guillotine

Wear A Grim Reaper Costume And Be Dark And Sinister This Halloween!
Each year at Halloween, millions and millions of kids and adults alike get excited about dressing up. Even though it’s only for one day, everyone still relishes the idea of dressing up in a disguise or monster outfit of some sort. This exciting holiday is not just about trick-or-treating, it’s also about escapism and having fun frolicking in the dark streets. Each year the question is, what will you be for Halloween? Maybe it’s time to try out an adult grim reaper costume or a kids grim reaper costume!
There are some of us love to dress up to scare all the people around us on All Hallows Eve. After all, Halloween is a day for spooks, scares, chills, frights and fun. What better way to frighten those around you than with a dark and sinister grim reaper costume. We’re talking about “Death” himself when we refer to the grim reaper.
If the reaper costume doesn’t get you a rise out of little trick-or-treaters, then I don’t know what costume will. Just imagine the doorbell rings, you glide softly toward the door, and as you pull it open, the dark night drapes over your terrifying grim reaper costume. You silently stand tall and pale with your scythe in one hand. At this point you’ll hear all the tiny trick-or-treaters gasp in horror.
Okay, granted, it only lasts for a second or two, and then they just want you to hand over their goodies. But still, isn’t it great to get that legitimate fright out of them on Halloween night? It’s not just for your satisfaction, but it’s for them as well, they look forward to a fright or two on Halloween!. It’s what we too expected when we were children and it made the night fun.
For those of you who are looking for a grim reaper costume, but have had no luck thus far, it’s time to see what online has to offer. Forget about those lame costume stores that seem to pop up out of nowhere once each year to sell a vast array of cheap quality costumes and accessories.
While sometimes you may find a gem or two at these kinds of stores, however, you’re much more likely to discover a great grim reaper costume and many other scary costumes for kids and adults online. You’ll find these online stores offer a stunning selection of Halloween costumes and props galore. You’re sure to find an ideal grim reaper costume to scare all kids and adults alike on Halloween night.

How to make a Grim Reaper Costume
A grim reaper costume is actually a pretty easy thing to assemble. If you want to keep it very basic, you can get by with a cloak with a dark hood and some face paint. Ad a scythe and you’ve gone a bit further.
Easy Tips To Follow When Buying Grim Reaper Costumes
How about the grim reaper costume. Thats what I am talking about. The grim reaper Halloween costume is a excellent costume for those young adults who like to put in a slight sinister atmosphere to their event.

How To Decide What Are The Best Halloween Costumes To Wear When You Want To Win A Prize At A Halloween Event
So you’ve been invited to a Halloween event, and there’s a great first prize for the best Halloween costume and you want to win it! Problem is, you don’t know what to dress up as. What exactly would be the best costume?
Halloween is meant to be a fun holiday but quite often it is hard to have a good time when there are so many little things and errands to take care of – for example the decorations, party favors, and the candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. But the main problem is that you are drawing a blank on finding a good Halloween costume, not just for yourself, but possibly for your kid too.
Finding a great kid’s Halloween costume can be tricky, because depending on the age of the child, he or she will have quite a say on the decision. Children often have the most creative imagination when it comes to thinking up the best Halloween costume ideas. They usually want to wear what is “cool” at the present time and it is very important to them what their peers think of the costume they will be wearing. That being said it is best to let them guide you as to what they would be thrilled to wear out with their friends. Movie heroes, Disney characters are usually the most popular for the younger kids, whereas the teenagers are probably going to be much more comfortable wearing something frightening or a way-out weird Halloween costume, just to get the added attention. There are lots of stores online that you can visit to buy kids Halloween costumes.
Finding the best adult Halloween costume, is less restricting than kids ones, but then you have the added problem of being totally overwhelmed simply by the vast variety of costumes available!
Just remember that the best Halloween costumes do not have to be the sexiest ones. Some adults go the sexy route hoping that will win them first prize for the best costume at a party or event. But that’s not the way it works. What matters more is how original and well thought out your costume might be.
Some of the best ever costumes have been the ones where you can’t tell who is inside because so much of the body is covered or hidden. Remember that showing skin will probably get some attention, but that too has, quite frankly, been done to death. Instead, why not rely on your wit and sense of humor to come up with your own ideas for the best costume ever.
For inspiration and ideas I suggest that you visit some of the big online Halloween costume stores and browse through their many pages of costumes and see if any of them catch your attention. Each year these sites come up with new and original outfits, it’s fun to see how creative some of them really are!
No matter what age you are, you can find some very neat items that are going to literally blow people away. All you have to do is to find the time to shop around, and just remember to keep an open mind. If you stick to just one idea, you are going to have a hard time finding the items you want. It’s better if you have a few ideas or a vague idea, you can then just go and see what is out there and then choose the best of what you find!

Kid’s Pumpkin Carving Ideas For A Spooky Halloween
I don’t think anything says Halloween better than a grinning Jack-o-lantern! Pumpkin carving has been around for a long time but is mostly associated with the occasion of Halloween. If you’ve never had any experience with pumpkin carving and would like to give it a try, or are looking to kick up your carving skills a notch, then here are some great tips to help you make some great spooky pumpkin lanterns.
The first step with pumpkin carving is to pick out your pumpkin. They are readily available at your local grocery store pretty much throughout October. The other option is to find a local pumpkin patch where you and your family can go and actually pick your own pumpkins from the field.
Whatever shape pumpkin you pick, you should consider this as your canvas (you’re an artist now!). The bigger the pumpkin is, the easier it will be to carve. You don’t have to just stop at one pumpkin, you could get a whole bunch and create a collection of Jack-o-lantern decorations all around your home.
To begin your pumpkin carving session, you should spread out some newspaper on a table, under your pumpkin. You’ll need to carefully slice around the top to make a lid and then hollow out all the pumpkin guts. If you are carving with your kids, it’s safer if an adult does this part as it can be a little tricky. You can either throw the pumpkin innards out or another option is to roast the seeds in the oven for a tasty treat.
Once you have cleaned out your pumpkin, you could sketch on the outside the face or design you’ll be carving. Pumpkin carving has become a such a big business nowadays that there are various pumpkin carving kits available wherever Halloween decorations are sold. Also there are many templates and pumpkin stencils that you can use to make decorating your lantern a little easier.
Pumpkin carving can either mean cutting out and removing chunks of your pumpkin to create a design, or delicately and carefully removing only the top layer of pumpkin skin to give a glow-through effect design. By leaving the thin inner skin of the pumpkin you can generate and eerie glow when placing a candle or small battery light inside your pumpkin. This second way of doing it is a little more tricky, but it’s worth the extra effort as it really looks stunning!
If you’re looking for pumpkin carving inspiration and ideas, there are plenty of pictures and instructional videos that are just a Google search away. At the top of this page I have included a great resource for pumpkin face patterns, there’s actually 31 pumpkin ideas, all are suitable for kids to do. Some are scary pumpkin patterns, some are funny pumpkin designs and then there’s some weird pumpkin carvings – something for everyone!
All you have to do now is decide on the pumpkin carving pattern you want to use. If you are looking for something that is a bit more extreme as a pumpkin carving project, you may want to check out the ones at Extreme Pumpkins.com, there’s some really unique ones over there!
If you are having a kids Halloween party at your house this year, why not decorate your home and yard with a whole army of these guys, making their faces match the theme of your party, it can look very effective. Say for example you were having a witch party, then carve different witch patterns and black cat patterns or cauldron patterns and ask your guests to all dress up as witches or wizards. Or if you are having a scary theme kids party, then carve your pumpkins with designs such as skulls, scary ghosts, monstrous faces, werewolves, Frankenstein, bats etc. and ask your gusts to all dress up in kids scary costumes.
Hope these Jack-o-lantern carving tips have helped, and of course, once your pumpkin carving is complete, don’t forget to take plenty of pictures because sooner or later your masterpiece is going to wilt away!

Do Haunted Houses Really Exist – Are There Any Real Life Haunted Houses Or Are They Just A Myth?
The night before “All Souls Day” is the night we know as Halloween. This is when souls are supposedly in the nether regions, when spirits in the heavens, converge with human souls to celebrate their ghostliness. On October 31st, whatever you do, don’t go into haunted houses looking for ghosts!
There’s a reason people carve and light Jack lanterns on Halloween - the hideous pumpkins with their flaming eyes and contorted mouths are supposed to frighten away evil spirits who are trying to target your house to set up home. At Halloween, the ghostly spirits are supposed to reveal themselves. In haunted houses, on October 31st, the spirits deliberately come out to cause you fright, for they are supposed to hate Halloween, hate the crowds of adults and kids dressed up in horror Halloween costumes, and hate that other spirits besides themselves are walking around on the earth. Ghosts of haunted houses are, to put it simply, unsociable!
In California,in 1989, in a town called Van Nuys, a paranormal investigation team “photographed” a ghost hanging a man in the attic. It was supposedly hanging him with a rope from a nail stuck in the roof rafters.
In Hollywood, California, George Reeves, the original person who played the part of Superman, is seen often in his old home. People are supposed to have seen him in his Superman uniform, holding a gun. Some say George killed himself, others say he was killed, it’s all quite a mystery.
In Benedict Canyon, California, the famous actress Jean Harlow’s house is thought to have 2 ghosts. One is Paul Burn, Harlow’s husband, who shot himself, and the other is a dead woman no one knows. Sharon Tate saw Paul’s ghost, and also saw, more chillingly, at the bottom of the stairs, a woman lying in her own blood, her throat slit, just as, years later, Sharon Tate herself would be found.
Further north, again in California, this time in San Jose, people have reported seeing figures in the windows of Winchester house, a house that the widow of the inventor or the Winchester rifle built according to the designs spirits were said to give to her. These spirits were benevolent spirits intent on keeping the ghosts of the thousands who have died by the Winchester rifle from haunting her.
Although California haunted houses are to be found widespread along its coast, all of the 50 states have haunted houses.
In New Mexico, just north of Santa Fe, at the foot of Black Mesa, is an old hacienda that once housed the government of the Spanish governor, who was a merciless man who readily hanged criminals on the hacienda grounds. Ghosts have been seen there during Halloween including the ghost of the governor’s wife, who was found dead on the staircase. Some have seen ghosts walking on the grounds s well, more than likely the ghosts of men hanged on the hacienda’s gallows in the 1840s, when the cruel governor ruled over the land.
There is a naval station in Kansas that is well known to house the ghost of a pilot who crashed on an airfield there. People reported having seem the pilot actually get out of the crashed airplane, walk to a hanger nearby, yet when they arrived at the plane, they were amazed and stunned to find his body there, dead. Since then, many times people have seen this pilot walking the hangar, others hear
voices, and still others find things moved and changed. Doors open completely on their own. Cups flip over all by themselves. On Halloween, you’re sure to hear voices in corners, and see twisted shadows scampering close to the walls.
While many of these ghosts are benign and have no intention of harming anyone, many others in these haunted houses resent visitors on Halloween night. Some might throw things at you, while others might try to hang you.
So the bottom line is, unless you’re prepared to actually encounter a ghost, stay away from any known haunted houses on Halloween night, when the spirits celebrate their ghostliness.
You should be afraid! Halloween is a truly spooky occasion!

Halloween Tombstones – Perfect Prop For A Kids Spooky Halloween Party

So you have decided that this year the theme for Halloween is “spooky”, and you’ve probably already decided on a your kids scary Halloween costume, now all you need to do to set the whole mood for a spooky Halloween night is to decorate your home and yard accordingly.
If you want to go all out when decorating for your kid’s spooky Halloween party, you will find that the quite honestly, the sky is the limit.
There are so many more ideas out there than ever before, in fact you are actually spoilt for choice!. One great idea are Halloween tombstones, they can look really authentic and if you have some placed in your front yard up to the door, to make it look like a small cemetery, they can look quite freaky and scary.
That’s not all you can do with tombstones, there are many different things you can do with them. You can even make them funny if you want to (if you make them yourself, that is). You can easily make you own and add your own sayings, names, or dates. Do whatever it is you want.
To make your own homemade Halloween tombstones, you need something that is easy to work with and also easy to store away for another year. One of the very best materials that you can use is Styrofoam. This is what many of the store-bought tombstones are made of and you can do the same. Styrofoam is easy to shape and cut, though make sure you dispose of any extra pieces carefully, as this material will not be good for your yard or the environment if left lying around. When you are buying the sheets of Styrofoam the only thing you need to pay particular attention to, is to make sure the pieces are thick enough to stay sturdy and upright when used outdoors for Halloween tombstones. Inside ones you can prop up against a wall, if needs be, so they don’t have to be quite so thick.
Once you have cut-out the basic shape that you want your Halloween tombstones to be, you can then use black or dark grey paint to paint them. Actually, you can do whatever you want. If you want red, go with red; if you want orange, go with orange (both these 2 would show up better in the dark anyway!). Try to use a waterproof paint if you can, though you may find that spray paint is the fastest and easiest type of paint to use. Once you have painted them, you can then take a knife
to carve out the words you want to appear on your Halloween tombstones. Once you’ve done that, the all you have left to do is to paint in the grooves with a different color to make the words stand out.
I told you it was easy to make them!

These Halloween tombstones, however, are going to be light weight. What you are going to have to be concerned about is that when you place them in your yard, you don’t want the wind blowing them away. Styrofoam could definitely blow away very easily.
One of the best ways to keep them in place would be to use tent stakes that you can put into the bottom of your tombstones and then down into the ground. The stakes should hold them upright and also hold them in place when the wind blow starts blowing.
Your Halloween tombstones could also be vulnerable to rain or snow, but you can’t do much about that – just watch for storm forecasts and take them in when you feel it’s needed.
If you don’t want to make your own tombstone props and you can’t find any in your local stores, you can usually find it by searching on the internet at one of the big Halloween online stores.
Below you will see a video of how a guy uses power tools to attain the shape of the tombstone, which if you own one of these tools, it would make it a much faster project. The bottom video shows how to paint the tombstone and make an epitaph on it …

Draw an outline of your tombstone onto the Styrofoam sheet and carefully cut it out. Write your RIP message on the front of the tombstone and then use your knife to carefully carve out the words to look like they’ve been engraved into [...]
